Seen In Our Yard Last Night...

Five fine gentleman chose to brave the zero degree weather, bundled up and slept out under the stars!

One nice thing about sleeping outside in zero degree weather is that the sky is crystal clear and you really have an incredible view of the stars!  And since you'll probably not really be sleeping all that much in the course of the night, it is rather nice to have a view to enjoy... :-)

Settling in for the night.  Yes, that cat hung around them all evening and ended up climbing into Stuart's sleeping bag for the night.

They all survived, though some of them came in fairly early this morning, and they all had good appetites come breakfast time!

Are they brave, or... crazy?! Is it ok to just ask, why? :-) I'm sure the cat appreciated it though...

Oh Kathryn! You should try it sometime!! Maybe we should host a "girls night OUT" at our house sometime?? :-) It really is a rather neat/unique experience... I've done it a couple times (once when I was very young and scared of the coyotes - so we came in around midnight!). The second time, though, we woke up to an absolutely gorgeous morning! Like I said, you should try it sometime!

How ironic - a group of guys from our church braved the tundra last night as well! I conveniently opted out due to having a gig the next pm. For several weeks the "test of manhood" amidst our congregation was based on whether or not one chose to participate in the Feb 12th campout - and we ended up with a less-than-heroic eldership! (Only the deacons and other laymen were willing to try it...) Yours were realer men than ours who had a couple of tents in addition to the winter sleepwear!

We saw your fire last night. I wondered. :-)

Are you guys trying to give your Aunt more grey hairs? How can you guys sleep outside after telling me about cougar tracks. :(

Is this a guy thing or a northern thing? I canNOT imagine doing a stunt like that! LOL Although I can imagine the view would be awesome around sunrise.

Got a chuckle out of the Opportunist Cat. :D

Oh, don't worry! They set up "camp" in an area that didn't have any tracks in the snow... :-)

Heather - I think it is probably more of a guy thing than a northern thing, but some of us northern girls have done it, too! It just might be overall a more compelling idea for the guys.

I remember sleeping under the stars with Jeanine and Krissy at a Mother/Daughter event. The moms didn't join us:) I seem to remember it was 7 degrees out. Fun memories!

Rebecca - We were just talking about that time the other day and trying to remember what the temperature was that night! I think that was the time that I was supposed to be out there with you, but ended up with a migraine that afternoon which removed all desire to sleep outdoors! :-) The year that Jeanine and I slept out under the stars up at the camp we did have two of the moms come out with us! Fun memories!
